NZGM

Over the past few years there has been much discussion as to the necessity of the position NZGM and further to this, what happens to the funds paid by NZ Hash Clubs to this position. As current NZGM, I hope this page, and the detail included will help to clarify and alleviate some, if not all, of these concerns.

In todays fiscal environment, it is only right and reasonable that hashers and harriets should expect transparency on where, and how, their hard earned cash is spent. This is particularly relevant in the case of a semi informal, non profit, organisation such as the Hash House Harriers (HHH). The fee of $150 ($75 per year) requested, and subsequently paid, to the NZGM to enable them to perform their duties is not, nor should it be, immune to this transparency.

At the 2011 NZ Nash Hash, the question was put to all attendees, "Do NZ hashers believe there is value, and accordingly wish to retain, the position of NZGM?" The result was a 90-95% affirmative to retain the position.

In light of this, to aid and enable future NZGM's to understand the responsibility they undertake, and to provide the transparency necessary, a 'Position Description' was developed from the experiences of previous NZGM's, and is subsequently promulgated. Further to this, a number of 'Frequently Asked Questions' were recorded to help you (the owners of the NZGM position) understand what you and your clubs pay for.
